CATCH National Junior Championships 2026

The CATCH National Junior Championships 2026 is the premier showcase for junior tennis in Trinidad & Tobago, highlighting the country’s top young players while also welcoming developing players into competitive tennis. The tournament will feature boys’ and girls’ events across multiple age divisions and developmental categories.

Tournament Overview

This tournament serves as an important national junior competition and a key platform for player development and selection consideration. National ranking points will be awarded for the main event draws, with the exception of the 10 & Under division. Developmental events are intended for beginner players and do not carry national ranking points.

Important Eligibility Notes

Players in the 12 & Under, 14 & Under, 16 & Under, and 18 & Under Singles divisions are required to compete in their base age division. Players ranked in the Top 4 of their base age group as at March 1, 2026 may be eligible to play up into the next age division, subject to the tournament rules and age requirements.

For the 10 & Under division, players eligible for both 10 & Under and 12 & Under Singles may only choose one division, and players in 10 & Under Singles may only play 10 & Under Doubles.

Special Format for U14

Due to the scheduling clash with the ITF World Junior Tennis Competition, the U14 event will consist of a Qualifying Draw followed by a Main Draw. This is a special format being used for this tournament.

Draw Information

Draws will be conducted on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the National Racquet Centre. Draw time will be announced.

Opening Day Information

The tournament begins on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 10:00 AM. All players are required to be present on the first day for doubles sign-in and the Opening Ceremony between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. The Opening Ceremony will take place at 9:00 AM at the National Racquet Centre.

Doubles Sign-In

Doubles entries close at 9:00 AM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, and both players must sign in together on site.

Match Format

  • Events with five or fewer entries may be played in a round-robin format

  • Developmental Events: best of three short sets

  • Main Events: best of three regular sets with a match tie-break instead of a third set

  • No-ad scoring and no-let rule will apply

  • Play may continue under lights where necessary

  • Penn balls will be used

  • Players may be required to play up to three matches per day

Eligibility

Entry is restricted to citizens of Trinidad & Tobago. Players must provide proof of citizenship, such as a passport, birth certificate, or other acceptable documentation. Non-citizens may only be considered for special exemption if they can show proof that they are substantially in the process of obtaining a TTO passport.

Dress Code

Players must present themselves for play in a professional manner and wear clean, acceptable tennis attire. CATCH tournament T-shirts are also considered acceptable attire for play.

Additional Notes

Participation in this tournament is mandatory for players who wish to be considered for national team selection, unless otherwise exempted. Medics will be available for players only.
